Named after the towering palm that stands beside it, this original Kauri villa is full of history and rustic charm. Offering simple country comfort, plenty of space and outstanding value, Palm Tree Cottage is the perfect base for families and groups exploring the Northern Coromandel.

The Main House: Features a master Queen bedroom with all linen provided, and a second bedroom with a bunk and two single beds.

The Sleepouts: Two external bedrooms (each with a single bed) offer extra privacy—perfect for teenagers, mates, or those who want a quiet corner to themselves.

Space to Gather: A large, open-plan kitchen and living area—the heart of the home—perfect for group meals and evening catch-ups.

True to its original villa heritage, the bathroom is accessed via a short covered walkway just outside the back door—a feature many of New Zealand's classic farmhouses once shared.

A Note on Linen & Pricing

The nightly rate includes up to 2 guests, with the Queen bed fully made and two bath towels provided.

To help keep Palm Tree Cottage an affordable option for couples and small groups, the single beds are prepared with a fitted sheet, pillow and blankets.

Guests using the single beds are welcome to bring their own top sheet or sleeping bag. Alternatively, we can provide a top sheet for $5 per bed.

Just 9 minutes away, Hike & Bike Coromandel provides transfers for guests walking the spectacular Pahi Coastal Walk, making the retreat an ideal place to relax before or after your adventure.

Ocean View Spa Retreat is located on Whitestar Station, a working farm. During your stay you may occasionally see normal farm activities or cattle grazing in the surrounding paddocks as part of our rotational grazing programme.

The retreat itself is privately positioned at the far end of the property, allowing guests to enjoy a peaceful and secluded stay while experiencing the authentic character of a working New Zealand farm.

Hidden deep within our QEII National Trust protected bush, Bush Cabin 1 offers a rare opportunity to immerse yourself in regenerating native forest, crystal-clear streams and abundant birdlife. This is more than just a place to stay—it's an authentic Coromandel bush experience.

Powered by our own hydro and solar systems, the cabin combines an authentic off-grid experience with modern comforts including reliable WiFi, hot showers and flush toilets.

Sleeping

The cabin sleeps up to six guests in one bedroom featuring a fully made Queen bed with a single bunk above, plus three additional single bunk beds.

All linen and towels are provided. Single beds are prepared with a fitted sheet and duvet—simply choose your bed and add the supplied top sheet.

Relax & Unwind

Light the wood fire on cooler evenings, enjoy a meal in the cabin or make use of the shared outdoor deck & BBQ area beneath the stars.

Reliable WiFi is available if you need it, but with no TV and limited mobile coverage, it's easy to switch off, slow down and enjoy the sounds of the bush.

Group Bookings

Bush Cabin 1 is located alongside Bush Cabin 2, making it ideal for two families or a group of friends wanting to holiday together while enjoying their own space. Book both cabins to accommodate up to 10 guests.

Getting Here

Reaching the cabins is part of the adventure. Access is via a scenic 3 km gravel farm track with a shallow creek crossing through the farm and native bush.  The road is suitable for most standard cars driven with normal care. Lowered vehicles or cars carrying unusually heavy loads are not recommended.

For your first visit, we recommend arriving during daylight so you can enjoy the drive through the farm and native bush.

Powered by our own hydro and solar systems, the cabin combines an authentic off-grid experience with modern comforts including reliable WiFi, hot showers and flush toilets.

Sleeping

Bush Cabin 2 sleeps up to four guests in one bedroom with two King Single bunk beds.

All linen and towels are provided. Beds are prepared with a fitted sheet and duvet—simply choose your bunk and add the supplied top sheet when you arrive.

Kitchen & Living

The cabin includes a kitchenette with a two-burner gas cooktop, fridge/freezer, crockery, cookware and everything you need to prepare simple meals.

On cooler evenings, light the wood fire and relax with a book or enjoy a meal at the shared outdoor deck & BBQ area beneath the stars.

Bathroom

For your convenience, the cabin has an internal flush toilet, while a private bathroom just outside the cabin features a hot gas shower and a second flush toilet.

Relax, Explore & Unwind

Enjoy reliable WiFi if you need it, but with no TV and limited mobile reception, it's easy to disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with nature.

Spend your days exploring the walking tracks, waterfalls and native bush, listening to tūī and kererū, or simply relaxing beside the fire.

Good to Know

Bush Cabin 2 sits alongside Bush Cabin 1, making the two cabins ideal for families or friends travelling together while enjoying their own accommodation.

The cabins are located near the walking tracks, so you may occasionally see other guests passing by on their way to the waterfalls.

Reaching the cabins is part of the adventure. Access is via a scenic 3 km gravel farm track with a shallow creek crossing through the farm and native bush.

The road is suitable for most standard cars driven with normal care. Lowered vehicles are not recommended. We suggest arriving during daylight on your first visit so you can enjoy the drive through the farm and native bush.

Powered Camp Sites

Tariff: $20 per Adult, $9 per child 6 - 15 yrs incl per night

Powered grass campsites in a farm setting. Site size is 8m x 8m

We have 2 powered sites located near the communal shower and toilet block. Sites suitable for tents, caravans and campervans.

Facilities: include Free WiFi, 1 hot shower, 1 flush toilet, non-potable tap water, rubbish collection, and road access during the summer months. A coin-operated laundry is available. There are no cooking facilities or kitchen, so please bring your own equipment. Please remember to bring your certified, RCD, regulation power connection suitable for use in holiday parks.

Non-Powered Camp Sites

Tariff: $18 per Adult, $9 per child 6 -15 yrs incl per night

Non-powered campsites in a farm setting. Sites are selected by campers on a first-come, first-served basis. These spacious, family-friendly sites are are perfect for those who don't require power and are happy to use our communal areas for charging devices. Located within easy reach of the communal shower and toilet block.

Facilities include Free WiFi, 1 hot shower, 1 flush toilet, non-potable tap water, rubbish collection, and road access during the summer months. A coin-operated laundry is available. There are no cooking facilities or kitchen, so please bring your own equipment and be fully self-sufficient.

Self Contained Camping Area

Tariff: $10 per Adult, $9 per child 6 - 15 yrs incl per night

Designated Zone – Suitable for Fully Self-Sufficient Campers

Our Self-Contained Camping Area is a designated space for guests who are fully self-sufficient. This includes certified self-contained caravans and motorhomes, as well as tent campers who bring their own toilet, shower, and wastewater facilities.

There are no toilets or showers provided in this area.
